ART PRIZE – UNITED STATES

Deadline for registration: 27th of may 2010

This is a radically open competition. Open to any artist in the world who can find space. Open to anybody in Grand Rapids, Michigan who wants to create a venue. Open to a vote from anyone who attends. This is an unusual competition with no official jury or curator. You build a profile online, which is your proposal. Then, negotiate with registered venues for a space. When you secure a venue, you're in. Have your work installed by opening day, and the voting will begin. There are lots of ways to get here. You may ship your work and have your venue install it, or travel to Grand Rapids and stay in a volunteered home. There are no restrictions on medium of work. Artists do not have to appear in person at the event

Artists registration are open from April 19 - May 27, 2010

1st prize: $250,000 - 2nd prize of $150,000 - 3rd prize of $50,000 – and other 7 prizes of $ 7000 each.

PHOTO COMPETITITON 2010 – AUSTRALIA

Deadline: 31 May 2010

This International Photography Competition is a new competition open to photographers anywhere in the world. The aim is to select 55 photos to be published in a 2011 Diary & Calendar, which raises money for Australian non-profit organizations. The organization is looking for 55 images of people, places or things which tell a story about a social-justice or environment issue. Photos of almost any genre will be accepted, including portraits, landscapes, animals, objects, or any combination of these. You can submit up to 4 photos per entrant. The organization like minimal Photoshop-ing, and will usually exclude photos where Photoshop-ing is obvious. The Competition is open to everyone, and the organization particularly encourage people living in the developing world to enter. Entry is Free. 1st Prize: $1,500 AUS, 2nd Prize: $750 AUS, 3rd Prize: $250 AUS.

INTERNATIONAL PAINTING CONTEST - SPAIN

Deadline: July 2nd 2010

For this XL International Painting Competition the theme of the works will be free as well as the technique. Every author can send a maximum of two works, of dimensions bigger than 100 cm. and smaller of 250 cm. in any side. Spanish artists and foreigners can participate to this contest. First prize of Euro 7.000 / second prize of Euro 3.500 / third prize of Euro 1.500.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS – NETHERLANDS

Deadline: 1st of June 2010

This Call for Entries is part of an efforts to stimulate artistic research in relationship to the work of Jean Tinguely. The call is specifically focus on Tinguely’s exploration of the role of the artist, the art work and the viewer as expressed in his Métamatic works. The organization’s aim is to commission six individual art works in line with its mission. The organization welcomes proposals from artists working in all disciplines. This includes object based art, time based art, performance art, conceptual art, computer (initiated) art, etcetera. The organization is not looking for replicas or facsimiles of any of the works Tinguely made, nor works made ‘in the style of’ the artist.

The motto is: not seek the men of old… seek what they sought. The proposals just should address the numerous issues Jean Tinguely raised with his Métamatic work.

URBAN INTERVENTIONS – SPAIN

Deadline: 30th of June 2010

This urban intervention has to be realized using a traditional element in this region of Spain: the curtains in front of the doors, an element that is part of the architectural image of this region. Competition is open to Spanish and foreign artists with no age limit. The subject on which to develop the works is "POSITIVE PANDEMIC": A challenge for the authors to create works able to spread a positive mood. The"POSITIVE PANDEMIC" will have to help to transform the reality of each one of us, and therefore of society. Happiness, enthusiasm, admiration, and so on. are keys on which to base the

creations. The works will have to be realized on flexible support (canvas, burlap, plastic, etc.), using waterproof products. The approximate measurements of the curtains are 210x135 cm. The organization offers the cost of the materials up to a maximum of 150,00 Euros per curtain. The accommodation and meals during the event (11 and 12 September 2010) are also paid by the organization. Travel expenses are to be paid by the artist.

The original works selected by the jury must be delivered before 9 September 2010 to the place designated by the organization; the artist will pay the costs of the transportation. In case of a project to be developed on place, this one will have to be completed by the hours 18,00 of September 11, 2010. The exhibition of selected artists will be held from 11 to 19 September 2010 coinciding with the celebrations of the town. The exhibited works will remain ownership of the organization. INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCE FOR ARTISTS – AUSTRIA

Deadline: 04th of May 2010

This programme of artists in residence provides for a stay of three months in Vienna, including the studio, accommodation, insurance, a monthly grant of Euro 1.000,- as well as an exhibition of the artist’s work at the end of the three-months period. Visual artists up to the age of 35 from the following countries in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe are eligible to apply: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine. ART WORKS FOR A MUSEUM – FLORIDA

Deadline (reception): 1st of July 2010

The Museum is launching a competition to acquire new art works. The organization is interested in art that keeps in mind in the scope of the new expansion: Asian art. Integrating art with the natural environment is desired. Ideas of nature are valued, such as the changing seasons; the contrasts between summer and winter, hot and cold, dry and wet, water and sun, etc; universal artistic expression with nature; and the interaction of architecture and nature. There are opportunities for Asian art in both interior and exterior locations. Sculptures, paintings and videos accepted.

Art Budget: $95,500 (This amount is separate from the honorarium payment). Honoraria: $1,500 per finalist (up to three) to make a site visit and create a site-specific proposal. Criteria to Apply: Artist has met at least two (2) of the following:

• the artist has completed public commissions similar in budget;

• the artist’s works are in major public, private, corporate or museum collections;

• the artist has received awards, grants or fellowships;

• the artist has had a one-person exhibition in a museum within the past five years

Project Time Line: Finalist notification Aug, site visit Sept, proposals due Oct/Nov.

The anticipated date of completion for this building is June 2011.

CALL FOR A GLOBAL PERFORMANCE

Deadline: 31st of July 2010

With this project performer from around the whole world work together in one same action, everybody the way he/she does. All will carry one object around the planet.

The object will be fragile. It will pass through hundreds of people’s hand around the fragile planet. The Starting point of the object will be Florence, Italy in winter 2010. The object will be carried (by foot, train, car, ship, horse,….) to the next-by assigned performance neighbour’s place. The carrying/transporting itself shall be a performance.

Every single performance artist in hold of the object chooses the personal “performance”, way and style of carrying the object to the neighbour. The object should be used but not harmed or voluntarily visually changed throughout the journey. All registered participants then will know From whom they will get delivered the object to their place and his/her contact details of the next artist. The participating performance artists have to come up for their travel costs and organisation.

The organization will do its best to keep distances between the neighbours as short as possible.

Participating performers shall document on photo ((300dpi, TIFF o JPG) and text ( maximum 500 words) their journey/performance. The journey of the object and the performers will be communicated on the webpage of the event, the Facebook group and the YouTube channel. After the successful return of the object to Florence, Italy, a documentation-book will be produced with a double-page for each performer’s picture and text.

CALL FOR ART – MACEDONIA

White night is big event always characterised with multidisciplinary which these past years has witnessed this town in Macedonia to be an active city, city without boundaries, city open for adopting new horizons. This year White Night will offer art that will revival all parts of the city. Art out of the standard institutional spaces, art that will allow authentic expression in new open and closed spaces and not only in the museum, gallery, theater, hall.The White Night will be one journey without borders among the artistic disciplines, one journey for discovering the creations from music to visual art, from theatre to video, form applied arts to literature to gastronomy. The White Night will be realized in following areas: - Visual arts ( plastic art, photography, installation, video – art, comic, cyber art)
- Applied arts ( architecture, visual/industrial/ web design, fashion, digital creations)
- Music
- Film
- Public art and urban acts

All artistic forms and mediums are allowed, realized with any kind of instruments or techniques.

The organizer will:

- cover the accommodation and food expenses
- provide necessary technical equipment for realization of the project
- provide as well as promotional material for the event
- provide the transport of the artworks

RESIDENCE FOR ARTISTS - NORWAY

Professional artists, designers, architects and curators are eligible to apply for residency at this art centre in Norway. Residency periods are from 2 to 4 months. Please indicate preferred time and length of stay in the application. The residency at the Nordic Artists' Centre includes a monthly grant of 6.700 NOK, living and working space, as well as covered travel expenses up to 5.500 NOK. Artists' houses are fully equipped, studios are 50m², with a wireless internet access available in both houses and studios. The selection is based on artistic merits and the quality of artistic practice. Applicants from outside the Nordic region are expected to be fluent in English. RESIDENCE FOR ARTISTS – THE NETHERLANDS

An Hotel in the Netherlands invites artists, curators and researchers to submit proposals for its 2011 programme of residence. Accommodation and living facilities are provided for invited artists or artists groups to complete a period of work culminating in a final exhibition in the adjacent exhibition space. Residencies vary in length and depend on the nature of the work: one or two months is a time to be considered in general. The length of the residency is agreed in advance. The resulting exhibitions which are open to the public, usually take place for 3-4 weeks.
The hotel is responsible for all mail-outs and promotional activity in relation to the shows, which include regional, national and international contacts.
The residency includes use of all facilities (private room, wireless internet, shared kitchen, washing machine / dryer, basic tools, some audio & video equipment). We can host 8 people in 4 bedrooms, you might be sharing a room. 11 INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION – SPAIN

Deadline: 30th of May 2010

This International Exhibition is open, with just one work, to any individual without any limitations. All techniques and methods, as well as all aesthetic trends or styles will be

accepted. The works must be unpublished.

Paintings and photography: the works shall be submitted on an unframed, sturdy medium, or with at least a wooden lath or reed not exceeding 2 cm.

No works produced with materials hazardous to their integrity or transport, nor those protected with glass, shall be accepted.

- Sculptures: not to exceed 100 kg in weight.

- Audiovisual format: these works shall include technical instructions for proper exhibition and the copy must be presented in CD or DVD format, compatible with Windows XP.

A jury will effect a pre-selection of the received candidacies.

The selected works will have to sent in original and they will become part of an exhibition that will open on July 2010. The works making up this exhibition will be included in a book/catalogue to better publicise the Exhibition, as well as on the event’s website.

Three prizes will be awarded. The economic amounts of the same are as follows:

18.000 Euro for first prize

12.000 Euro for second prize

8.000 Euro for third prize
